TMail Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
This page explains how the TMail Android app, made by TechBoiL, handles your data. TMail is a business email app for companies whose mailboxes are hosted on the TMail email service. It is for business use only: accounts cannot be created in the app. Each mailbox is created by your company’s email administrator or by TechBoiL.
1. What the app stores on your phone
- Your email address and password, used only to sign in to your mailbox.
- A copy of your emails, folders and attachments, so you can read them quickly and offline.
- Your app settings (notifications, signature, sync options).
This data stays on your phone. It is removed when you remove the account from the app or uninstall the app.
2. What the app sends, and to whom
- Your mail server (mail.techboil.com). The app connects to your mailbox over encrypted connections (IMAP and SMTP over TLS) to sign in, receive and send email. Your emails are stored on the TMail service as part of your company’s email account.
- Server lookup. When you sign in, the app may look up your email domain (for example yourcompany.com, never your address or password) through public DNS and the public Thunderbird autoconfig directory to find the right server settings.
- Update check. When the app opens, it downloads a small file from techboil.com to check whether a new version is available. No personal data is sent with this request.
3. Contacts permission
If you allow it, the app reads the contacts on your phone only to suggest addresses while you write an email. Your contacts are not uploaded or shared.
4. What TMail does not do
- No advertising and no advertising SDKs
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties
- No reading of your emails for marketing
5. Your company’s role
Your mailbox belongs to your company’s email account. Your company’s administrator can create, reset or remove your mailbox, under your company’s own policies. TechBoiL hosts the service on their behalf.
6. Deleting your data
To delete data from your phone, remove the account in the app or uninstall the app. To delete your mailbox and the emails stored on the server, see TMail account and data deletion.
7. Security
All connections between the app and the TMail service are encrypted. The service includes spam and virus filtering.
8. Children
TMail is a business app and is not intended for children.
9. Open source
TMail is based on Thunderbird for Android, which is open-source software released under the Apache License 2.0.
