How to Choose a Web Development Company in Lebanon (Without Getting Burned)

If you’ve ever hired someone in Lebanon to build a website, you probably know the story. You get promised the world, pay a deposit, and 3 months later you’re left with a sluggish template that barely opens on mobile 📱.

I’ve been building web applications and working in IT for more than 25 years. I’ve seen businesses waste thousands of dollars on broken agency promises. Here is what you actually need to check before you sign any contract.

1. Custom Code vs. Bloated Templates 🛠️

Most local “agencies” install a $39 ThemeForest theme packed with 40 plugins. It looks pretty for 2 days. Then updates break, loading speeds drop to 8 seconds, and your Google ranking disappears. Ask the developer directly: “Are you writing a clean custom theme, or importing a generic page-builder demo?”

2. Who Owns the Source Code and Hosting? 🔑

Never let an agency hold your domain or code hostage. You must own your domain registration, your Git repository, and your server access from day one. If a developer refuses to give you root access or direct database exports, walk away.

3. Mobile Speed is Everything in Lebanon ⚡

With local 4G connections and fiber hiccups, heavy 10MB websites don’t convert. Your site needs clean HTML, compressed WebP assets, and smart caching so it loads under 1.5 seconds on any smartphone.

4. SEO Has to Be Built In, Not Bolted On Later 🔍

Semantic HTML, proper heading structure, descriptive image alt text, and a working XML sitemap all need to exist from the first day the site goes live. A site built without these basics can be redesigned to look great and still rank nowhere, because search engines never had a clean structure to read in the first place. Retrofitting SEO onto a badly structured site later costs more than doing it right the first time.

5. What Happens After Launch Matters More Than the Launch Itself 🔧

A website is not a one-time purchase. WordPress core, themes, and plugins need regular security updates, and a site left unpatched for a year is an easy target. Ask upfront who handles updates, who monitors uptime, and what the response time looks like if the site goes down on a weekend. An agency that vanishes the day after handover leaves you carrying all of that risk alone.
